SonoL&D benefits
More objective than manual/digital check
Manual check is quite subjective. Patient obesity, a large fetal caput (hematoma at the top of the head produced during vaginal delivery), and inexperience of newer healthcare providers can all hinder the manual check and produce varied results.
The benefits of SonoL&D
- SonoL&D helps assess the fetal station through measurements of the Angle of Progression (AoP).
- The tool offers you objective measurements as well as documentation of progression (or lack) of the labor process.
- Ultrasound imaging is less invasive and more comfortable for the patient over repeated manual exams.
- You can give patients and families a clear picture of the fetal progress with SonoL&D's fetal head progression video and graphics onboard the system.
Perineal imaging of the fetal head at or after 40 weeks can be challenging, however the most important landmarks (fetal skull and pubic rami bones) are very well seen with the curved probes (2D and 3D) offered for obstetrics on the Voluson Performance & Signature Series’ systems.
