SonoL&D exam
How to perform the SonoL&D ultrasound exam
The transducer is placed on the center of the perineum sagittally (notch towards the ceiling). In this center position the fetal head and pubic symphysis are seen.
Then move the transducer parasagitally either right or left until you are away from the cartilaginous pubic symphysis and into the bony part of the pubic ramus bone.
Freeze the image, select Calc and then select Auto for caliper placement on the bony landmarks. Select Set to confirm the placement of the calipers, or adjust as needed. Manual measurement is also an option.
